Spring time harvest

  • Saturday I decided to finally pick all the cabbages. I made the mistake of fertilizing the cabbages about  a month ago with micro-life. It is a very mild organic fertilizer, but I think I put on too much. A day or so after I put the micro-life on, all the cabbage leaves turned brown and curled. That seemed to be the beginning of the end for my cabbage patch. I had much bigger heads last year, so I will try again in the fall as I love cabbage in stir fry or my sumi salad recipe.

I cut all my celery and think it will come back again soon. I cut the swiss chard and barely made a dent in my kale. I am not going to plant that much kale next season, I really over planted! To prep the bed that my cabbage was in, I cut up all the roots and added some rose soil. I planted black crowder peas! They are a bush variety, and new to me, so we will see how they grow. On Sunday, We had a yummy salad with dinner with lettuce and red cabbage from my garden.
