Peas hanging out

  • I usually dont enjoy harvesting peas because they are so hard to find on the vine. They are the same color as the vine & leaves and it takes me a while to find them. This day it was so nice to have them all just hanging out of the trellis ready to be picked! I have read that it is better to not disturb the plant too much by pulling on it, so when I pick the peas I hold the vine in one hand and pull the peas with another. I snap it at the top of the leaves on the pod. I love eating these in the garden, putting them in stiry fry, or packing them for a school snack. I planted these back on this date and have had an abundance this spring.

If you are new to my blog check out the benefits of gardening the way I do here and older blog posts to see what I grow.

thicker variety - shelling type. My grandson eats these in the garden when he comes over. I open it up and he picks the tiny peas out of the pod. They are great for stir fry or a school lunch snack.
