Blackberry blooms

  • I planted five blackberry plants last year and they are coming back this year great. I planted the thornless variety mainly because I remember picking them as a child and getting pricked by all the thorns! Here is some great information on how to grow blackberries. I didn’t know anything about growing them, but have learned that there are stages that they develop and here are some pictures of the stages. As with anything I grow, I usually google it and read and learn what I can. I am hoping to get much more berries this year. These plants should produce for years! • It’s funny you just posted it as I scribbled on my chalkboard during the night “look up blackberries and raspberries to grow”. It’s always been something I wanted to grow and I recently came across a few extra containers on the roof, maybe this is the perfect time!

  • ha! cool! I learned that they like soil that drains well, so I made sure the box would drain and used good soil. In Texas we have a thick clay soil that isn’t great to grow things in. I love your containers – I bet they will work! let me know how they do. They will go dormant in the winter but come back every spring.
