Cauliflower harvest!
-
Today I picked my largest head of cauliflower. I have 5 more smaller ones that I will keep growing.
To see about how to grow cauliflower and when I planted these, click the cauliflower category to the right. I rescued these plants from Walmart just after Christmas day. To learn how to garden this way, go to the benefits tab on this site. It shows how to start your own DIY garden.
I made a stir fry tonight with cauliflower and green beans. To stir-fry cauliflower you just add a little olive or coconut oil to a hot skillet and sear the cauliflower (first chop into bite sized pieces) and stir with a wooden spoon. After it tends to get a little more tender, add another vegetable and a little water. Let it steam just a minute and cover for a few minutes over medium heat. Salt and pepper and season. It was yummy!
One Response and Counting...
We prize the cauliflower heads as the harvest, but I’ve learned that the leaves of all brassicas, cabbage, collards, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, are edible. I’ve been chopping up my brussels sprouts leaves and sautéing them in butter. They wilt like cabbage and are very nutritious. Don’t discard good edible leaves!
