My new flower bed

  • Unfortunately I gave up on growing strawberries about 2 weeks ago. I have tried to grow them in my raised re-purposed picnic table and they always had problems. I am not sure where I went wrong, so maybe I will try again in one of my new beds with the tubs. I loved having a tulip in my garden this past winter and longed for more flowers, so I decided to dedicate the old strawberry box to my new flower bed. I planted sunflowers, zinnias and sweet pea. The sweet peas are more of a fall flower but I was anxious to smell them, as I have heard how amazing they are.

Here are a few pictures of my new flower sprouts! I can’t wait for flowers soon!

Did you see the item on Yahoo in which the person used house gutters in which to grow strawberries. Had them up off the ground (overhead) with, I think, drainage holes so they wouldn’t get soaked.

He had scads of strawberries! Made you want to pick them if you could ready in to the computer!

  • I have seen those on the internet somewhere – sounds like a great idea! Let me know if you try it and it works.
    thanks for sharing,

  • The best strawberries I ever had were picked in early May just outside Sievereville, TN. It’s not far from Gatlinburg, TN.

    They were SO GOOD!
